Commentary on Mango Moods

Well, based on my opinion the mango in this short story means fertile. I mean the one who's barren in this short story is her husband not Chitra!!! Firstly, we can see that he's the one who refused to get a check up at the hospital. While Chitra get her check up at the hospital and there's nothing wrong with her. Next, Chitra doesn't get pregnant for 8 years in her marriage but after Jason leave the city, she got pregnant! Doesn't that smell fishy? I guess the child is Jason's not her husband! The writer did mention Jason's eyebrow, which is like a whirlpool. And at the end of this short story, the writer also mention the eyebrow of her newborn son which is also like a whirlpool. Is it just a coincidence? No, I think it is not. The son was Jason's son of course because the husband cannot give her son! I think Chitra already aware about this but of course she just kept quiet about it or else she'll be killed!
